Just got my P60. I paid £10,784.04 in Income Tax and National Insurance Contributions in FY 2006/7.

I do not consider this value for money.

Unmarried, employed, homeowner/renting-own-place people who (thankfully) haven't spawned any brats for the rest of the country to take responsibility for get zero value for money.

Yup, great innit? And this doesn't even include the cost of collecting the bins, or upkeep of the roads which are the main public services I use.

£59 a month? You're getting off lightly. £105 here - single person with the 25% discount.
