Also quite cold, so this would be a really bad time for one's heating to pack up, wouldn't it?

Is it possible that something's just froze up?

That happened to us during the last cold snap.
Got up, no heating, no hot water.
Got through to British Gas Service, arranged call-out for next day.
Went to B&Q, bought 2 oil-filled electric radiators.
Got home, heating on, small puddle of water under boiler.

Still a bugger, though.

Fortunately it's only the bedroom - I'll just have to run to the bathroom really quickly when I get out of bed!
