Is it me or is everything sh1t?
Feb. 26th, 2007 12:28 am1. IE7 keeps "encountering a problem" and "needing to close". Microsoft are "sorry for the inconvenience", but that doesn't help me very much, does it? Some clue as to the nature of the problem might be of assistance, rather than just sending an "error report" to their spies in Seattle. Or they could, y'know, try writing software that works...
2. I am getting pretty fed up with being sent defective DVDs by Amazon. I've now had three copies of Revelation of the Daleks with exactly the same fault in exactly the same place. You might think that returning the first two would have given them a clue they'd got a faulty batch, but apparently not. And I have a four-disc set of Firefly in which two of the discs take several attempts to get to play (including having to turn the power off and on again before I can even eject the disc) and one hasn't worked at all so far. My player works fine with other discs, so I don't think it's the machine.
3. Just to cap it all off, last night I took my mandolin out of its case to do some practice, there was a twanging sound and this had happened:

The nut has cracked clean through and come off in little bits. Marvellous. It hasn't been dropped or knocked at all since I got it, so either it's the maker's fault or it's been damaged in transit. Fortunately the T&Cs on the website I bought it from give a 12-month warranty, so I'm going to ask them for a replacement (and if they play me up I'll have to use the magic phrases "Sale of Goods Act" and "Small Claims Court"), but that will of course mean dealing with the courier firm that only delivers to residential addresses during office hours again...
*le sigh*
Why can't things just be made properly and work, huh?
