Slant in a strop!

So I ordered some lampshades for my flat from an online retailer , but they never arrived. I emailed along the lines of "WTF?"

This was their response:

Hi , we did send your order out and our courier co tried to deliver your lights on two occasions , they would of left a calling card to say they had tried to deliver if after two attempts + a further 7 days sitting in your local delivery depot it is sent back to us , we can send it out again but the courier co will charge us again @ £ 5.00 .

So I have replied:

Thanks for your message. Presumably this is another one of those courier firms that seem to think other people don't work for a living, so try to deliver things to residential addresses on a weekday when nobody's home.

I should be grateful if you would send the goods out again. With regard to the extra delivery charge, I should point out that I did not receive any calling card, although this is probably because they were unable to gain access to the property. However, I did give both my home and mobile telephone numbers with my order. Your website states that, "In the event that no one is available to sign, goods will be returned to our carrier’s depot and you will be contacted to arrange a convenient time to re-deliver." I did not receive any telephone message, even though my mobile has a voicemail facility so there is no possibility of their having been unable to reach me. Your courier would appear not to have complied with your delivery terms, so you might ask them to deliver the goods at no additional charge.

If they would like to call me to arrange a delivery time, my mobile number once again is ... I trust that they will be able to deliver at a time which does not require me to take a day off work to wait in for them.
